Welcome to belgium!

Given that Belgian chocolatiers produce 172,000 tons of chocolate per year, one hardly needs more reason to plan a trip; but for those harder to convince, let us not forget that Belgium is also a feast for the eyes and the epicenter of museum culture in Europe. The new Magritte Museum features a collection of more than 200 of surrealist master's works, and just a short train ride away in Louvain-la-Neuve, the Hergé Museum celebrates the works of Georges Remi, creator the comic-book hero Tintin. Designed by acclaimed French architect Christian de Portzamparc amid a forest of ancient trees, the museum itself is a work of art well worth a visit. This May Brussels will host the annual Jazz Marathon in the centuries-old Grand Place and the three-day Tapis de Fleurs in August. If that still isn't enough to pique your curiosity, don't forget that in addition to chocolate, the Belgian people seem to know a little something about beer, as well. Be sure not to miss the Belgian Beer Weekend this September.
